I grew up in the charming town of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin alongside my mother, father, and brother. We have always been close to one another; playing ball, a board game, or watching movies together. However, my mother and I have always been the closest. She makes me laugh like nobody else can. We spend our time singing karaoke, making up stories, and sending each other funny pictures with filters on our faces. My father has always been the guy who gets us outside to hike, play sports, and garden. He has taught me so many new skills throughout my life. My brother is the person I always looked up to. He has shown me that I should pursue whatever I want no matter what anyone else thinks and to always find the fun in every situation. I consider some other people family too. Emily, Josey, Lucia, Grace, Sienna, and Olivia have been my close friends since fourth grade; however, Emily is my best friend. She has a beautiful soul and can effortlessly make me laugh. We spend our time baking, dancing, and singing together. I am so thankful for all of my friends because they support me through my sports, schooling, and relationships.
Sports and exercise are a huge part of who I am. I participate in hockey all-year round and soccer in the summer. Ever since I was little, I lived for playing sports. I used to play volleyball and basketball along with hockey and soccer. But, as time went on, scheduling forced me to choose which two sports I liked the most. I play for the Western Wisconsin Stars during my high school hockey season and Team Wisconsin in the fall and spring. I travel to Chisago to play soccer for Lakes United. My biggest take away from the teams I have been on are the friendships I end up with. I have friends from North Branch, Centennial, Chisago, Forest Lake, Madison, Milwaukee, Stevens Point, Somerset, Eau Claire, etc. To this day, I still stay in touch with all of those friends. Sports have also taught me how to be self-motivated. To become better, you have to constantly practice and you cannot do that without self-motivation.
I have always been really good at self-motivation and it has helped me become the person I am today. Being raised in a small town was tough for me because it seemed like every one of my friends played the sports I did not play. I chose hockey over basketball in fifth grade and everything changed for me. I constantly felt behind socially; however, as time passed, my friends and I got closer. When people doubted my choice of hockey over basketball, I worked as hard as I possibly could to show them how successful I could become. My motivation originates in proving my doubters wrong and pursuing my future dreams. In my future, I hope to play college hockey at a four-year college. I am considering majoring in Kinesiology or Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Either way, I want to major in something that pertains to the human body. As an adult, I would like to get married and have two children. I want to become my children's greatest supporter in whatever aspirations they have.
