Welcome to my webpage. This webpage will explain who I am and show all
what I have learned in my junior seminar, 2018. I am Madalyn Kolstad. Iím 17 years old, and I attend Saint Croix Falls School District.
I was born in Saint Croix and have lived in my house in Balsam Lake since I was born. I grew up with two brothers, John and Ben.
Living in a house with mainly men, I grew up being very competitive and strong willed.
When I was 5 my oldest brother John got in a car accident, while falling asleep while driving.
This was a major change in our family and how I grew up. My brother was not supposed to live, he was in a coma for 17 days, and had a major brain injury.
If he was to live he was supposed to be paralyzed, never be able to walk, talk, or do anything on his own for the rest of his life.
This brought in a lot of faith and religion to my house. We were growing up to be raised careful but full. And that you never know when your last day could be.
ďOnly I can change my life. No one can do it for meĒ -Carol Burnett. I have lived up to this quote and realized this the hard way.
After my brotherís accident, he had woken up and recovered to almost perfect. John is 30 now, married, and has two kids.
My other brother Ben is 27 and has four children. My brother Ben is to this day still my biggest role model and best friend.
He has taught me many strong things and pushed me to overcome my weaknesses.
Last year I transferred from Unity to Saint Croix, and that was one of the hardest things Iíve ever had to do.
I open and enrolled and wanted to move, but I didnít think the educational differences were going to be that hard.
I always did good in school and when I got to Saint Croix it pushed me and showed me life wasnít going to be that easy.
It taught me that if you want something, you need to do it yourself and youíre not going to get it handed to you.
Family and yourself is the only thing youíve got, and I have now learned that.
I have worked on a better me and Iím so thankful for Saint Croix to push me to be a better student.
I would love to continue my education at St. Scholastica in Duluth for nursing or law enforcement.
Iím still undecided but thatís my top choices as of now.
I hope to push myself to get the grades I need and to recover from my bad grades from the past year, and to make sure I get to the point I need to,
so I can get to where I want to be.
