"If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door."-Milton Berle
My name is Trevor LaMirande, I am a 17-year-old junior at Saint Croix Falls HS. I was born at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul Minnesota on September 12th, 2001. When I was young, and growing up, I always dreamt of being a racecar driver as a future career. Well, as I started getting older I realized that the racecar driving profession probably wouldn’t work out. Instead I did another kind of racing which was running. Running has been a huge part of my life. I was around 8 years old when I did my first 5k, and I loved it. I didn’t start getting competitive about running until I joined cross country and track in 5th grade. I wasn’t very good during this time but as I got to 8th grade I was winning track races left and right. I tried football in 8th grade, and it just wasn’t the right fit for me, so I joined cross country again freshman year.
I ended up being one place short of the state cross country meet both my freshman and sophomore year, which was upsetting, and I had a few successful track seasons too. Now, I consider myself to be a very competitive runner, after those two heart-breaking seasons of not making it to state. Those 2 years set a determination flame off in me, and I think it was for the better. I made huge growth as a runner, from sophomore year to now, and I am looking to keep on growing. (Click here to visit my athletic.net profile, and see my cross country and track stats.) Also, now I am trying to keep up with my studies in school, and maintain a decent GPA, so I can get into a good college in the future.
In the future I hope to attend a 4-year university. I’m not quite sure if I want to attend a UW school, or if I want to go somewhere out of the state, but nonetheless wherever I go will be the right place for me. I am currently undecided on what exactly I want my major to be in college. As of right now I am thinking possibly a business major but I’m not quite certain. One thing I do know, is that I plan on running cross country and or track in college.
