Normally when anybody thinks of April we think of “April Showers Bring May Flowers”.
But, on April 5th, 2002 around 6:03 am, it was snowing. Lightly, but still the glistening
flakes and the brisk air were nothing slight of showing a chance for any “April Showers.
This was the day I was born and I wouldn’t have it any other way, I really didn’t have a choice.
But nonetheless, I got lucky. I was born in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin to my two wonderful parents,
and my life began there. My family rented a blue duplex in town that my grandparents own and
we made the top apartment our home for the next couple years. Within those next years,
my brother Cole would be born in the same hospital that was practically up the road.
One of my favorite things to do is look at old photos from when I was a baby and look
at the first memories that shaped those two years. I was a baby who loved my rubber duck
bath and already acting like a protective older sister. So, I continued that when my family
decided to move to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We only lived there one year and within that one year,
my little sister Sydnei was born. I don’t remember this year much but it is always a weird thing
to look back on and think about. And since our family wanted to move again, we traveled all
the way over to a suburb of Chicago called Naperville.
The city skyline was thirty minutes away from our twin home,
the elementary school and the roads that generally shaped who I was.
Our twin home was small, I shared a room with my little sister where we went
from purple to pink back to purple walls. We got our dog, Boston. Our perfect,
fluffy, golden retriever who became a part of our family immediately. Starting
on a good note, we stayed for another seven years. All together in our little
house, we made it work. So, from then on my mom worked as a nurse at Edwards Hospital
and my dad worked in Chicago at a Salesforce company. While they were busy with
there jobs, we always found time to do other activities. My dad was always interested
in videos and art so from that I took and developed those interests too. I wrote
vivid, confusing, imaginative stories. I painted anything with anything and
whenever I was around the camera I would sing and let my mind and hands take control
of the camera. I really enjoyed that and from there I was involved in small, local films,
plays and got into modeling.
My family and I stayed there for six more years until we decided to move back to St. Croix Falls.
We got back, moved into a house that was still only a couple miles from the hospital
just like before, and I started middle school later that year.
I’m now a Junior in High School, and ever since moving here I’ve
learned that I love to go on hikes, spend a lot of time swimming in lakes in the summer, and
do crazy things with my friends. Ever since I was little I loved marine biology and I’m still
in love with it. I’ve applied that to decisions I’ve made here. I’ve been able to apply all of
that with the stuff I love now and used it to connect with people. Which is another thing I love
to do, is to connect with people and meet new people. So, throughout the rest of my Junior Year
and Senior year I hope to create a plan towards my future and apply my interests towards meeting
new people and going on crazy adventures.
