Sequoia's Webpage

Welcome to my website! My website contains my seminar projects from semesters 1 and 2 (in the links above), and a little bit about myself (below).

"Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain... To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices - today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it."
Kevyn Aucoin

Brown hair, brown eyes, and strong will makes up me, Sequoia Sirek. I am currently a Junior at the Saint Croix Falls High School; however, I am taking a few college courses through U.W. Online. Although I donít quite know how I would like to apply my certain skills I do know I would like to somehow leave the world a little better than I found it. I have thought of being anywhere from a lawyer to a neurologist, my only goal is to impact the lives of others for the better. However, I know a positive change doesnít require a certain job, and can start right where I am.

A large part of who Iíve grown to be can be attributed to my family. Through tests and challenges, they have helped develop the person I am today. As each one of us has grown up, we have only become a more tightly knit family. The youngest of us kids is my sister Natalia. She is spunky, sporty, and bursting with energy. Itís hard to believe she is already in middle school. Next to Natalia, in age, is Abram. When he was little he could build whole castles and ships out of a mixed bucket of Legos with no instructions. Although he is innovative and intelligent, he is not lacking in his athletic ability (like the common stereotype would suggest). He has played hockey ever since he was little and has only grown in his skills. Between Abram and myself there is Elijah. Elijah is the brains of the family. He is extremely intelligent especially in math. He is also taking a college math with me even though he is a year younger. Over these past few years we have traveled all over the U.S. from Boston to California. Weíve seen everything from the White House in DC, to the beaches of San Diego, to the dessert city of Phoenix. Most of these were road trips, and through the car rides, campfires, and many marshmallows we have only become a closer family.

Since we have traveled so much I have developed a love for exploring the world. My favorite spot in the U.S. is Orange Beach (as seen above). Orange Beach is in Alabama about five minutes away from Florida, because it is not in Florida you can enjoy the beach with fewer tourists. One of the main attractions of Orange Beach are its sunrises and sunsets, which still remain unmatched. The best part about waking up in the mornings is the sun flooding through the window to wake you up as it rises just above the pier. Often times we would walk the coast to soak up the sunrise. Along with strolling the beach, swimming, reading in the sun, and shelling are just a few of the pastimes the beach has to offer. Even though Orange Beach is further than most people like to travel, it is definitely a spot worth seeing at least once.

Simone de Beauvoir
